A Tour

Written on February 14, 2008. Written by The Rev.

“Unfortunately, the Tour de France will lose now much of its credibility by not letting participate some of the world’s best riders, who were never implicated in doping scandals.”  Johan Bruyneel

I have news for you Johan,  the Tour day France lost it’s credibility a long tme ago.  I would say that race jumped the shark after Lance won for the 3rd time.  Stop calling it “The” tour, it is ”A Tour” and an increasingly less relevant one at that.  A Tour has been ruining pro cycling for a long time.  Too many riders and teams base their entire season on A Tour to the detriment of other races on the calendar.  Brother Eddy is the king because Eddy raced a full schedule, he won Grand Tours, Worlds, Classics, and set the hour record.  He is what living in The Big Ring is all about, he raced to win all the time, all season long.   Brother Lance stopped doing anything but A Tour after he won it the first time.  Not Big Ring at all.

Was ASO right in not inviting Astana? Who cares? Seems pretty arbitrary considering the state of doping in the Pro Tour, but really who cares?  Beware false prophets.

“They traveled through the whole continent until they came to Belgium. There they met a sorcerer and false prophet named Johan, who was an attendant of the commisar, McQuaid. The commisar, an intelligent man, sent for Eddy because he wanted to hear the word of The Big Ring. But Johan the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the commisar from the faith. Then Eddy, who was also called The Cannibal, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Johan and said, ‘You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of The Big Ring? Now the hand of The Big Ring is against you. You are going to be banned, and for a time you will be unable to see the light of the sun.’
“Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand. When the commisar saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about The Big Ring”

Hail Eddy

yeah, and Eddie also got busted for performance enhancing drug use. Do you think they’d let him race the tour today?

The devil must have a hand in keeping LA’s tests clean, no?

To defile the name of Eddy is a grave sin.

oh great prophet: when will thy comment be made about another character in pro cycling, michael ball. i find him intriguing and possessing of cajones of large size. many still involved in cycling do not. what, pray tell, is your perspective? or, do we give him bandwidth unwittingly just by repeating his name?
or am i igniting a storm of shit, the likes of which hasn’t been seen since britney spears accused her mother of laying (in the biblical sense) with her ex-husband?
if the torch shall be ignited by my mention of such a discussion, please grab the nearest extinguisher and smote it down. please.
i really have no idea of where to go with this discussion. i merely seek to hear what the church hath to say on the matter.

Johan Bruyneel lost all credibility when he signed Basso to Discovery. How can he say the Astana of old is not the same Astana today? Same shit different day.

Sister Lozano I see that your MBA schedule has kept you from being up to date with the Sermons as I have writings of Brother Ball. Given you mission statement this is forgiven. To restate. Brother Ball, heretic or messiah? That remains to be seen. The Big Ring believes in redemption and 2nd chances. Brother Ball does posses the passion for our sport and I believe his intentions are good. Will he like Moses, lead our tribe from the desert or plung a dagger in our back like Judas? Time will tell.
