Breathing Room

Astana surprised no one by winning the TTT today. The win did work the Lance fan boys into a tizzy (I bet more than a few portly middle management types pulled the trigger on a new Madone today) with some calling win #8 in the bag. That might be a stretch. Today dig did dig Sastre and Cadel a little deep into the hole then they are probably comfortable with. Both are close to 3 minutes out at this point. The Schlecks are a little closer and Garmin has Zabriskie in 9th with Vande Velde right there too.

I think it is Astanas race to lose. We know Contador can go up hill fast, we don’t know if Lance can still go that fast. Levi? He was always a little off the leaders at the Giro but he has said all along that A Tour was his objective. Ya, Astana has some breathing room after today but they can’t mess around too much when the mountans come, not with the horsepower that is gunning for them.
