I just read Chris Horners blog and kind the real story behind his non selection. Basically it come down to Bruyneel being a pussy and not taking control of his team ans Contoador prefering to have his pal rather than someone who will actually be able to help him win A Tour of France. What a giant tool. I am officially a Contador hater now, I have been sitting the fence for a while put no more. I am now really hoping that Lance has the legs to take a page out of the Hinault play book and attack his team mate. Sergio Paulinho? Are you kidding me? I really don’t think Contador even wants to win with choices like that.
I blame Bruyneel for all of this. He is allegedly the boss so why is he letting his riders pick the team? Not even in the most backward ass parallel unviverse is Paulinho a better pick for a Grand Tour than Horner. Bruyneel should be picking a team that can win, not a team that will keep a spoiled baby from crying about having no one to spoon with at night. At the very least Bruyneel should have released Horner so he could find another team. I am sure Lotto realizes how bad they dropped the ball letting Horner go in the first place and would love to get him back.

agreed, you want to give Contador what he wants rather then putting Horner on the roster thats one thing(i don’t agree with it but…). but to not release him so that he may have the opportunity to ride the tour with another team is fucked up. where can i buy my “F Levi, let Horner ride” t-shirt?
Amen! Preach on Rev!!!
Horner is a rider who, after the big three in Astana, would have been an automatic selection. Horner is a rider that earns the ‘Super Domestique’ title not because it can flow easerly off a commentators tonuge, but due to the blood sweat & tears.
I thought that Bruyneel was the toughest manager in the business. What a load of tosh. To make three rider choices based on politics could well leave him with egg on his face. Previously he had always chosen the best team & this has been reflected in his success rate.
It’ll make the race interesting & may add fuel to fire both LA & LL. I’ve been saying to friends for a while that I don’t think an Astana rider will win the Tour. What Bruyneel has done is to derail his own team before the race has begun. Good job!
Did he think Paulinho was going to be a better asset on the two stages without radios? I’d take Horner’s race sense any day of the week. I look forward to the day he is a team director.
well said – i’m gonna take Horner’s public position and not blame Johan, but man Contador – if there was ever a rider to root against…
Condadork is NOT Big Ring material…
