Gutted

I will be the first to admit it, I am a Boonen fan boy. I don’t really care about his problems off the bike. I just like the way he races, when he wins he does it with class. When he gets beat he shows the same class.
I woke up late on Sunday and missed the move when Cancelarra and Boonen got away. My first thought was Cancellara would go for a long one not wanting to risk a sprint. My jaw hit the ground when the gap opened. Boonen was out of the saddle fighting his bike like a wild bull, Cancellarra was sitting like he was cooling down on rollers. Holy shit! In that instant Spartacus gutted all of Belgium with his Swiss Army knife. Across Belgium pints of Leffe were filled with bitter tears as Cancellara stormed across Flanders like a fat man at a free buffett. For a brief moment it looked like Boonen gave up and would be caught by the Gilbert group but to his credit he manned up got back to racing to get yet another 2nd place this season.
The big question now is what about Roubaix? After the Vulgar Display of Power yesterday it would be hard to bet against Cancellara or Boonen for that matter. Roubaix is a race that requires a fair amount of luck to go with the huge watts it takes to be in the mix. More than any other race though Roubaix is a race where Boonen seems to be able to make his own luck. He has won it solo and in a sprint. The big question is what is going through Tom’s head after Flanders? He went toe to toe and was simple out gunned. That has to leave a mark.
What about George? Well, he did show he has some legs but fuck it, I am done with George. George to me is like the hot chick at the bar who flirts with you all night, lets you buy here shots and then at closing says “Wow it is late, my boyfriend is gonna be worried”. Tease.
Cancellara’s power:
1450w max (on the Muur)
285w avg. (non-normalized)…so what, 325 normalized?
6500kj (that’s calories folks!)
When asked by Sherwen what he could do with Cancellara in the break, Boonen replied, “…hold his wheel…!”
George reminds me of, Andy Roddick. Just wants to get “enough’ attention.
I agree! That is a steel toed kick to the mental psychy! That is 2 wins for Spartacus where he just effortlessly motored away from Boonen! As for Big George…I have never been a fan…baby…
1450 w max on the Muur. Oh, and he never stood up to get it, either.
Cancellara is the messiah.
I honestly was in shock when I watched it. I had to re-watch it. I think that was one of those one in a career, freak of nature, Incredibile Hulk moment we dream of. If Cancellara can do that again the rest of the peloton is in trouble.
