Looks like Big George learned a thing or two riding for Bruyneel. Today his Columbia-HRC team used one of Bruyneels favorite tactics by putting it in the gutter to see who come to race. Lance did. Contador? I guess he was confident Paulinho could close the gap. Garmin, Lotto, Saxo Bank all got caught flat footed with no one in the front group. In the end it was only 40 seconds but those are 40 seconds that a guy like Cadel (whose team will get blasted tomorrow) will have to make up somewhere.
I think the quote of the day was Cavendish on Velonews “some teams wanna ride like juniors, they wanna save themselves. In the end they got the results of juniors”. Brilliant, I am really starting to like that guy.

I think Cancellara was in the break, but he’s not really an overall threat, which is why Saxo Bank was chasing to protect Schleck the younger.

Hincapie, in a post-race interview said something to the effect that they (columbia) couldn’t find anybody who wanted to race and that kind of pissed them off. So when the opportunity presented itself, they took off.

But if any of the non-Columbia teams’ managers are anything like my high school football coach, there are a lot of team buses with kicked trash cans and busted drywall this evening.

Contador who is the best stage racer in the world is already pysched out by Lance. He needs to elevate his mental game if he wants to win this tour. Cavendish is brilliant and always good for a quote. Tyler Farrar is an american but the dude has a name that is harder to pronounce than most of the Euros and had a worse haircut than Karpets, way to fit in! How about Craig Hummer just give Lance a hummer, seriously dude, you are just as bad as Al troutmouth! I love how everyone writes off Sastre, dude deserves better than that. 2 stage wins in the Giro and defending Tour champion needs the respect he deserves. Christ how many tours in a row has that dude done? Dude is one of the hardmen. If Lance won 2 stages in the Giro everyone would be claiming he is a favorite and back. Boonen may be off his game right now but he better pull something off after all that drama, but really who cares, Lance has been snorting anorexic blondes for years and no one says anything.
Also I wonder if Cav is going to run out of victory salutes this tour, it must be hard to come up with new ones everyday.
