Art O’Connor has been racing bikes for 20 years. He makes everything a race and always has. Also known as “The Rev”, “Ortel Schwartz”, “A-Train”, and “The Defendant”, Art biggest enemy is himself. His favorite race is cross nationals because it’s the “Big Show”. (except the year it was at the Presidio, cuz screw that place right?) His idols are Joe Perry and Genghis Khan and if he were stranded on a desert island with only one cd it would be Slayer’s “Reign in Blood”. When asked if there is such a thing as ‘cross weather’, here is what he has to say, “No, if there is a race scheduled it is cross weather! People who don’t race when it is too nice or too nasty out are blowhard posers.”
Some words of wisdom from the A-Train:
Clinchers or Tubulars: Tubulars for racing, clinchers for training.
Embrocate?: For sure it is part of my ritual.
Favorite Cycling Quote: When asked what advice he would give to aspiring racers to get faster man/god Eddy Merckxz replied “Ride Lots”
